e-Signature. How to activate?
TL;DR: Activate the e-Signatures app from Settings and Applications, then configure signature position, placement method, and optional IP address and timestamp display in the app's Settings section.
Who can do this
Company account administrators with access to Settings and Applications
Requires the Team or Enterprise plan
How to activate the e-Signatures app
Open Settings and Applications.
Locate the E-Signatures app and select it.
Select Activate.
The app is now active and ready to configure.
E-Signature configuration
After activation, configure the e-signature appearance and behavior:
Open the E-Signatures app.
Select Settings within the e-signature module.
Open the Position dropdown and choose where the signature should appear on documents.
Open the Placement dropdown and select the e-signature placement method on documents.
Optional: IP address and timestamp
You can enable two additional fields to display on signed documents:
IP Address - Useful for legal documents where identifying the signing location is important. Enable this by activating the IP Address toggle.
Timestamp - Recommended for all important documents to ensure accurate documentation of the signing time. Enable this by activating the Timestamp toggle.
When both options are enabled, the e-signature displays the following on documents:
Signer's name
Signing date and time
Signer's IP address
Note: All configured settings apply to all documents to be signed within a given task. Individual document-level overrides are not available.
Troubleshooting
E-Signatures app not visible in Settings and Applications: Ensure your company account is on the Team or Enterprise plan. The e-Signatures app is not available on the Solo plan.
Signature not appearing on documents: Verify that both the Position and Placement dropdowns are configured. If either is unset, the signature may not render on documents.
IP address or timestamp not showing on signed documents: Confirm that the IP Address and Timestamp toggles are enabled in the e-signature Settings. Changes apply to documents signed after the setting is activated.
Need different settings for different tasks: E-signature settings apply globally to all tasks within the company account. You cannot configure different signature positions or metadata per task.
