How to delete documents

Documents in Uku can only be deleted from within the task where they were originally added, not from the document list.

TL;DR

Navigate to the task where the document was added, then delete the document from within that task. Documents cannot be removed directly from the document list.

Who can do this

  • Accountants who have access to the task where the document is attached

  • Clients who uploaded the document through the client portal

Documents cannot be deleted from the document list view. You must open the specific task where the document was added.

When do you need to delete documents?

Common situations include:

  • A document was added to the wrong client

  • The wrong document was sent or uploaded

  • A duplicate document needs to be removed

If the document was added through the client portal

  1. The client opens the relevant task where they added the document.

  2. The client locates the document within the task.

  3. The client deletes the document from within the task.

If the document needs to be deleted by the accountant

  1. Open the relevant task where the document is attached.

  2. Locate the document within the task.

  3. Delete the document from within the task.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot find the delete option on the document list: This is expected. Documents can only be deleted from within the task where they were added. Navigate to that task instead.

  • I do not know which task the document belongs to: Use the search or filter features on the dashboard to locate the task associated with the document.

  • The client cannot delete their own document: Make sure the client is accessing the correct task through the client portal. The document can only be removed from the task where it was originally uploaded.
