How to deactivate a client

TL;DR: Deactivate a client to remove their unfinished and future tasks from Uku while preserving all historical work data in reports.

Who can do this

  • Users and Administrators can deactivate clients

  • Only the account owner can delete clients entirely

When to deactivate a client

If a client has canceled their service and you want to remove unfinished and future tasks from Uku, deactivate the client. Upon deactivation, all information about work previously performed for the client remains available in reports.

Steps to deactivate a client

  1. Select Clients from the main menu.

  2. Select the client you want to deactivate to open their profile.

  3. Click the pencil icon to edit the client profile.

  4. Open the Status dropdown menu and select Inactive.

  5. Click Save.

Tip: Deactivation is reversible. You can reactivate a client at any time by changing their status back to Active using the same steps.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot find the client in the list β€” The client may already be deactivated. Check the filter settings on the Clients page to include inactive clients in the view.

  • Tasks still appearing after deactivation β€” Already-started tasks may remain visible. Verify that the deactivation saved correctly by reopening the client profile and confirming the status shows Inactive.

  • Want to delete instead of deactivate β€” Only the account owner can delete clients. If you need a client fully removed, ask the account owner to perform the deletion. Note that deletion also removes all time-log history.
