How can I ensure changes to recurring tasks persist in Uku?

To change a recurring task for all future months, edit the task template in the client's workflow β€” not the individual task in the Tasks tab. Editing a generated task only changes that single instance.

Who can do this

Any team member with access to the client's workflow.

Edit a recurring task template

  1. Open the client and select Work.

  2. Select Workflow, then click Edit Workflow.

  3. Find and open the task template you want to change.

  4. Make your changes (checklist items, description, assignee, etc.).

  5. Click Save recurring task.

  6. Save the workflow.

All future generated tasks will now include your changes.

Verify your changes

  1. Open the same client and select the Tasks tab.

  2. Use the date filter to view next month's tasks.

  3. Open the recurring task and confirm your changes appear.

Template vs. instance β€” The workflow holds templates that define all future tasks. The Tasks tab holds generated instances for specific months. Always edit via Work > Workflow > Edit Workflow if you want changes to persist.

Troubleshooting

Changes disappear next month

You likely edited the generated task instance in the Tasks tab instead of the template in the workflow. Go to Work > Workflow > Edit Workflow, make the change there, and save.

Checklist items missing in future tasks

After editing the template, make sure you clicked both Save recurring task and saved the workflow. Both saves are required.

Comments don't carry over to future months

This is expected behavior. Comments belong to the specific task instance they were added to and are not copied to future generated tasks.
