The Audit log is your account’s complete change history — a record of every change made in your Uku account: who changed or edited what field, when, and what the previous value was. Use it to trace a specific change, see who edited a record, verify when something was modified, investigate a discrepancy, or undo a mistake at field-level or entry-level precision.
Who can do this
Section titled “Who can do this”- All team members can access the Audit log. By default, you see only your own changes.
- Elite plan required to filter by other team members and to access up to 100 days of history.
- Company Admin or Company Owner role required to use the Elite-level filters (Member filter, extended date range).
- Company Admins and Company Owners on the Elite plan can also undo changes made by other team members.
- The Audit log feature must be enabled for your company account.
Activity log vs Audit log
Section titled “Activity log vs Audit log”Uku has two separate logs. The Activity log (bell icon) shows a feed of actions — what happened. The Audit log (profile menu) shows field-level diffs — exactly what changed, including the previous value and who made the change. See the full comparison: Activity log vs Audit log.
Elite plan: extended Audit log
Section titled “Elite plan: extended Audit log”On non-Elite plans, the Audit log is limited to your own changes and the current day. Upgrading to Elite unlocks:
- Team-wide visibility — Company Admins can filter by any team member.
- 100 days of history — review changes going back over three months. This is also how far back you can restore a deleted task: Elite reaches 100 days, while non-Elite is limited to the current day.
- Cross-member undo — Company Admins and Company Owners can undo changes made by other team members.
- Full access to all filter combinations.
How to access the Audit log
Section titled “How to access the Audit log”The Audit log is reachable from three entry points. Each is automatically scoped to the relevant context — pick the one that matches what you’re investigating.
Global Audit log
Section titled “Global Audit log”Path: Profile avatar → Audit log
The broadest view — all changes across your entire account. Use it when you don’t know which client or project a change belongs to, or when you want to review all changes by a specific team member.
All filters are available in the global view, including Client ID, Project ID, and Task ID search fields. These let you scope the global log to a specific entity without leaving the global view.
The Audit log menu item only appears if the feature is enabled for at least one of your company accounts.
Client Audit log
Section titled “Client Audit log”Path: Clients → [client name] → Activity tab group → Audit log sub-tab
Shows only changes related to that client — automatically filtered, no client ID needed. Use this when you’re already inside a client profile and want to review recent changes to that client’s tasks, contacts, invoices, or settings.
The Client ID and Project ID search filters are hidden in the client view since the context is already set. All other filters (date range, who, type, action) remain available.
Project Audit log
Section titled “Project Audit log”Path: Projects (or Events, depending on your company setup) → [project name] → Audit log tab
Shows changes for the project and its parent client. Use this when investigating changes to a specific project’s tasks, settings, or assignments.
The Client ID and Project ID search filters are hidden in the project view. All other filters remain available.
Choosing the right entry point
Section titled “Choosing the right entry point”| Situation | Use this entry point |
|---|---|
| Don’t know which client or project was affected | Global Audit log |
| Already in a client profile, reviewing client changes | Client Audit log |
| Already in a project, reviewing project changes | Project Audit log |
| Reviewing all changes by a specific team member | Global Audit log (filter by Who) |
Reading the Audit log table
Section titled “Reading the Audit log table”Each row represents one change event and shows:
- When — timestamp of the change.
- Who — the team member who made the change.
- Action — whether it was an Add, Edit, Delete, or Activity.
- Type — what kind of record was changed (task, client, invoice, contract, etc.).
- Title — name of the changed record.
Filtering and searching the Audit log
Section titled “Filtering and searching the Audit log”The filter bar lets you narrow the log to pinpoint a specific change. You can filter by criteria such as date range, team member, record type, and action, and search by task name or by a record’s ID (client, project, or task). The exact set of filters may change over time as the Audit log evolves.
A couple of options are plan- or context-dependent: the date range reaches up to 100 days on Elite (the current day otherwise), and filtering by another team member requires the Elite plan with a Company Admin or Owner role. The ID searches appear only in the global Audit log (the client and project views are already scoped). Filters apply automatically as you change them — use the refresh button only to pull in entries created since you opened the page.
Viewing change details
Section titled “Viewing change details”- Click any row to open the detail panel.
- The panel shows the full summary (when, type, title, who, action, status, associated client) and the diff view — each changed field with its old value and new value shown as
old → new. - Hover over any diff row to see the exact timestamp of that specific field change.
- Click the open button (external link icon) in the detail panel to navigate directly to the changed record.
The open button is not available for deleted records or entity types without a dedicated view.
Undoing changes
Section titled “Undoing changes”The Audit log lets you undo at two levels of precision: revert a single field back to its previous value, or undo an entire change event to restore all affected fields at once.
Undoing a single field
Section titled “Undoing a single field”- Open the Audit log from any entry point.
- Find the entry containing the field you want to revert.
- Click the row to open the detail panel.
- In the diff view, find the specific field you want to restore.
- Click the UNDO link on the right side of that field’s row.
- Confirm the action in the dialog that appears.
The field reverts to its previous value. The undo link disappears for that field and the row changes color to indicate the revert was applied. You can undo fields one at a time without reverting the entire entry.
Undoing an entire entry
Section titled “Undoing an entire entry”- Open the detail panel for the entry.
- Click the Undo button at the bottom of the panel.
- Confirm the action in the dialog.
The system reverts all changes from that entry and opens the affected record so you can verify the result.
When undo is not available
Section titled “When undo is not available”The Undo button and per-field UNDO links only appear when the system determines the change is safely reversible. Undo is not available for:
- Deleted records other than tasks — only deleted tasks can be restored via undo; no other deleted record type can. To restore a task, open its delete entry and click Undo — see Restore deleted tasks.
- Certain bulk operations — bulk changes affecting many records at once may not support undo.
- Some entity types — not all entities support field-level revert.
- Entries with cascading effects — if reverting would create a conflict with subsequent changes.
If undo is not available for an entry, the Undo button and UNDO links do not appear in the detail panel.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”How do I see who changed something?
Section titled “How do I see who changed something?”Open the Audit log, find the record’s entry, and click the row — the detail panel shows who made the change, when, and the old → new value for each field. Use the Type and Who filters to narrow to a specific record or member. Seeing other members’ changes requires the Elite plan and a Company Admin or Owner role.
Audit log does not appear in the profile menu
Section titled “Audit log does not appear in the profile menu”The Audit log feature must be enabled for at least one of your company accounts. Contact your Company Owner to enable it in company settings.
Audit log tab is not visible in the client profile
Section titled “Audit log tab is not visible in the client profile”The Audit log tab appears in the client profile’s Activity tab group. If the entire Activity group is missing, the Audit log feature may not be enabled for your company.
Audit log tab is not visible in the project view
Section titled “Audit log tab is not visible in the project view”The Audit log tab appears in the project view alongside Tasks, Emails, Notes, and Files. If it is missing, the Audit log feature may not be enabled, or your account may not have access to this project’s audit data.
Global Audit log shows changes for wrong company
Section titled “Global Audit log shows changes for wrong company”Use the Company filter in the global Audit log to select the correct company. For multi-company setups, the default shows your primary company.
The Who filter is grayed out
Section titled “The Who filter is grayed out”You need both an Elite plan and a Company Admin or Company Owner role. Both conditions must be true simultaneously.
The date filter will not go further back
Section titled “The date filter will not go further back”Non-Elite plans have a restricted date range. Upgrade to the Elite plan for up to 100 days of history.
No results appear
Section titled “No results appear”The default view shows today’s changes for your own account. Expand the date range or clear other filters — results update as you change them.
The Undo button is not visible in the detail panel
Section titled “The Undo button is not visible in the detail panel”The entry does not support undo. This could be because the record was deleted, it is a bulk operation, or the entity type does not support undo. For these cases, manually re-enter the previous value by editing the record directly.
The UNDO link disappeared after I clicked it
Section titled “The UNDO link disappeared after I clicked it”Expected behavior — after a successful undo, the link disappears and the row changes color to indicate the revert was applied.
Cannot access the extended date range to find the entry
Section titled “Cannot access the extended date range to find the entry”Undoing older entries requires the Elite plan and Company Admin role to access extended history (up to 100 days). On non-Elite plans, the date range is limited and older entries may not be visible.
