Expired subscription
Who can do this
Section titled “Who can do this”- Company Owner — can view and renew the subscription.
- Company Admin — can see the subscription status but cannot purchase or renew. Only the Owner can.
- Company Member — sees no subscription information; only the symptoms (can’t start tasks, etc.).
What stops working when the subscription lapses
Section titled “What stops working when the subscription lapses”When the paid period ends and the plan is not renewed:
- Starting tasks stops working — the timer or “mark active” action fails silently or shows a “subscription required” notice.
- Adding new members is blocked.
- Adding new clients may be blocked depending on your plan tier.
- Editing time entries is blocked, though logged entries remain visible.
- Existing data (clients, tasks, invoices, reports) stays in place — nothing is deleted.
Read access to existing data is preserved so you can review and export records before deciding whether to renew. The exact restrictions depend on which plan was active when it expired.
How to check whether your subscription has expired
Section titled “How to check whether your subscription has expired”Path: Settings & Apps > subscription page for your company.
- Open Settings & Apps.
- Open the subscription page for your company.
- Look at the plan tier and the renewal/expiry date.
If the date has passed, the plan is in the expired state. The subscription page shows the expiry date and a renewal call-to-action.
How to renew
Section titled “How to renew”The fastest path back to a working Uku is to re-pick a plan:
- Go to Settings & Apps > subscription page.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Why won’t a task start?
Section titled “Why won’t a task start?”The most common cause is an expired subscription, especially if there was no recent UI change and tasks worked yesterday. Open Settings & Apps > subscription page and check the plan status. If expired, renew. If the subscription is active and tasks still won’t start, contact Uku support with the company name and a screenshot.
My payment failed and now Uku is locked
Section titled “My payment failed and now Uku is locked”Most failed payments are due to an expired card or a bank rejecting recurring charges. Open the subscription page, update the payment method on file, then confirm the plan again. Uku will retry the charge with the new card.
Why can’t I add new members?
Section titled “Why can’t I add new members?”If the plan is expired, member additions are blocked — renew first. If the plan is active but member adds still fail, you may have hit your seat count; increase the seat count on the subscription page.
My Company Admin says they can’t renew
Section titled “My Company Admin says they can’t renew”Renewal is a Company Owner action only. Company Admins see the subscription status but cannot purchase. Find your Company Owner and ask them to renew, or transfer ownership to another member first if the original Owner is unreachable.
