FreeAgent - Uku Integration
Connect your FreeAgent accounting software to Uku to import clients and unlock workflow management, time tracking, reports, monitoring, and billing. The integration syncs client data one-way from FreeAgent to Uku.

What the integration provides
After connecting FreeAgent to Uku, you can:
Import clients from FreeAgent to Uku (both new and existing clients)
Access Uku features for your FreeAgent clients:
Workflow and task management
Time tracking
Reports
Monitoring
Billing
Setting up the connection
Open Settings & Apps from the main menu.
Select the FreeAgent integration.
Activate the app.
Open the Import tab.
Click Connect to FreeAgent. This opens the FreeAgent login page.
Log in with your FreeAgent credentials.
If you have more than one FreeAgent account, select the one you want to connect.
When prompted, allow Uku to access your user data.
After granting access, click Start import to fetch your clients from FreeAgent.
Uku displays the list of clients found. Select the clients you want to import and click Confirm.
For every client, Uku imports only the primary contact person and their information. Additional contact persons are not imported.
If you see the error "This app is only for accountants. Please get in touch with the author of the application you're trying to approve," you need to activate a Practice Dashboard in FreeAgent before connecting.
After a successful import, the following data is available in Uku:
Clients
Their basic contact information
Updating client data
The client sync between FreeAgent and Uku is one-way: from FreeAgent to Uku. If you add new clients in FreeAgent or update existing ones, you can refresh your client base in Uku.
Open the FreeAgent app and go to the Import tab.
Click Start import.
Uku fetches your clients from FreeAgent and displays both new and existing clients. Select the clients you want to add or update, then click Confirm.
After a successful import, a summary popup appears. Click View clients to see the results of the last import.
Troubleshooting
"This app is only for accountants" error when connecting: You need to activate the Practice Dashboard in your FreeAgent account. This is a FreeAgent-side setting required for third-party integrations.
Clients not appearing after import: Verify that you selected the correct FreeAgent account during setup. Also check that you clicked Confirm after selecting clients from the import list.
Changes made in Uku not reflected in FreeAgent: The sync is one-way only, from FreeAgent to Uku. Any client changes you need in FreeAgent must be made directly in FreeAgent.
Additional contacts not imported: By design, Uku only imports the primary contact for each client. Additional contacts must be added manually in Uku.
